Rostock Christmas Market

In the historic city center of the Hanseatic city of Rostock, the largest Christmas market in the north starts again this year on the Monday after the Sunday of the Dead. Around 300 market traders and showmen from all federal states of Germany as well as from Sweden, Finland and the Baltic States invite you to stroll, shop and feast here. The flags of Finland and Sweden encourage you to taste the Scandinavian mulled wine "Glögg", Scandinavian pepper nuts and reindeer ham. The market stalls on Universitätsplatz are covered with a starry sky. In addition, blacksmiths, carpenters, joiners, belters and bakers show their ancient craftsmanship on the historic market in the monastery garden at the monastery of the Holy Cross. In Kröpeliner Straße it glitters, sparkles and smells of almonds, Mutzen and chestnuts, Rostock smoked sausage, smoked fish, baked apples and mulled wine. Every Saturday and Sunday, a staged fairy tale game with Santa Claus, the fairytale aunt, the ice princess or Puss in Boots, which was staged for the Rostock Christmas market, is performed on the fairytale castle stage on the Neuer Markt. For children there is a Santa Claus consultation hour during the week and a large Advent calendar, on which a little door is opened every day. A further 60 events for children are on the program in addition to the daily game day on the stage at Rostock town hall. Of course, the Rostock Christmas market also offers all kinds of rides. In addition to historical children's carousels with wooden horses, there are also rides with more speed.
