Trier Christmas Market

Voted “Best Christmas Market in Germany” in 2024, Trier’s 45th annual Weihnachtsmarkt transforms Germany’s oldest city into an enchanting winter tableau.
Set against the UNESCO World Heritage backdrop of the medieval Hauptmarkt and imposing Dom, this isn’t your typical tourist-trap market—it’s where Germany’s only Glühwein Mulled Wine Queen presides over authentic vintner wine specialties known as Winzerglühwein. 90 wooden stalls offer food, drinks and regional craftsmanship.

With its new interactive fairytale performances, traditional puppet theatre, and the German Christmas Academy’s hands-on workshops, Trier offers a traditional Christmas market in Germany’s oldest city.
